Baxter State Park - this 240,000 acre park has many things to do for the outdoor enthusiest. You can climb mile high Mt Katahdin, fish in many of the ponds and streams in the park, hike on the many miles of trails, swim in the cool waters, canoe/kayak on many ponds or just take a trip "around" the mountain on the perimeter road going in either the North Entrance in Patten, Maine or in the South Entrance in Millinocket, Maine and coming out the opposite entrance.

Lumbermen's Museum -
located just west of Patten on the Shin Pond Road which, for over 175 years, has been the highway over which have passed thousands of woodsmen, their horses and supplies, to cut the pine, spruce, firs and hardwoods in the upper valley of the East Branch of the Penobscot. In more recent years an endless stream of trucks loaded with logs and pulpwood pass
the museum daily.
